Anouk van Klaveren
Anouk van Klaveren (b.1991) researches the visible and invisible powers of material objects. She believes they speak - so to speak.
In her practice she develops playful strategies to analyse the magical and absurd quality of objects to absorb symbolic meanings. How is it that they are able to modify behaviour to the point that it seems scripted and become part of our identity? By studying religious artefacts, consumer cult and the mythical dimensions of art and art production, she attempts to craft “meaningful” objects herself – while simultaneously questioning how meaning is produced through situation, context and ritual.
She is co-founder of the collective Das Leben am Haverkamp.
