Éloïse Alliguié

While using digital devices – computers, phones – Éloïse Alliguié faced their so-called intangibility. From that experience she tries to grasp their functioning and more ambitiously their essence, through different inputs: studying interfaces and more recently skeuomorphism, performing as a computer. Éloïse likes to spend time with her subjects by manipulating digital as much as non-digital materials, as a means of grasping them. She feels the desire to understand the design and behavior of our machines’ hard- and software to question our naive familiarity towards them. Through performative videos, sculptures, websites, she speculates about influences of onscreen objects and practices onto offscreen objects, bodies and processes.
