Jean-Gabriel Périot, Nijuman No Borei (200 000 Phantoms)
Illustrated by means of 600 chronological photographs of the Gembaku Dome inHiroshima, Périot depicts the paradoxical relation between the fragility of History and the strength of time when it comes to shape landscapes, cultures and peoples. On 6 August 1945, the atomic bomb Little Boy brought 78,000 people to perish and the city in ruins, including the dome. The everlasting structure was kept by the city to become a memorial for the victims. Beyond barren lands, life still goes on.
